....and I'm back!

Hi! I haven't blogged in forever since life caught up to me! I also have fallen off the wagon in some of my goals but the great thing is, when you fall down, you always get back up! So here I am getting back to fulfilling my goals!

First things first...I want to try and blog at least twice a week! I got so behind with grad school and then once Case returned from training I was so excited to be going to see him again that I totally forgot about everything else! Hopefully I can manage that :)

Work outs have been only 3 times week with mandatory PT, so I really need to step it up to 5-6 times with running on my own. I think I can do this with just some more motivation!

I also really want to start focusing more on my wedding plans because it is getting so much closer! I have a LOT done already and lots of updates to post on here, so I'll start blogging about my inspiration and little details more in depth as I hit the final stretch before the big day!

So stay tuned to my site everyone! Its a beautiful St Patricks Day so I am going to hit the pool for some color on my pale self :) Write more soon, stay smiling and lovely everyone!

I am only human...

Hey ya'll...so I failed again. I guess it's OK since I am only human. But I haven't updated this is a few days (5 days to be precise!) so now that it's Monday I decided its time to get back to it! From the last time I posted I have been very busy, so here's just a quick re-cap of the past 5 days:

Thursday Feb 2nd: no workout, class times 3, homework, TV shows, and bed by 9pm....I felt drained after my super long day Wednesday

Friday Feb 3rd: slow and very hilly 3 mi run, then worked on the battalion newsletter for the morning and tried to go to the DMV to get a new license but I didn't have the right paperwork so I'll have to brave that again this week! Had a relaxing night in watching Say Yes to the Dress with some wine and went to bed early since I had to be up before dawn for a field exercise with ROTC on Saturday. Just as I went to bed I got a surprise phone call from Casey which totally made my night! We only talked for about 5 minutes, but it was so good to hear his voice! I miss that man like crazy...

Sat Feb 4th: FTX (field training exercise) all day where we shot the M16's and then supervised the cadets all day long. I did a lot of running around taking pictures (since I am the PR person) so by the end of the day I was ready for a drink and to relax! A friend and I went to see Big Miracle (the movie with the whales and Drew Barrymore...which by the way, was cute but not worth the money. Don't get me wrong, I love animals and touching stories, but this was something I coulda waited to rent on DVD) and then to dinner at Macaroni Grill.

Sun Feb 5th: SLEEP! Relax! Homework! I should have worked out but I just didn't. To make up for it though I ate healthy and less food (I had fruit and veggies all day long and my only main meal was whole grain pasta with some "I can't believe its not butter" and Parmesan cheese).Casey was able to send me a text this night where he told me what he was up to...this will be discussed below though!

which brings me to today....Monday Feb 6th

Workout: we didn't have PT this morning (they gave us it off since the superbowl was yesterday) so a friend and I are planning to go for a run before dinner this evening. I was thinking of taking her on the 2.5 mi small hill circuit, otherwise maybe we will run a trail instead. I also plan on doing the following short circuit (I don't want to do TOO much that I'll be sore tomorrow because I am going to the crossfit workout in the morning):
10 pushups, 20 squats, 30 lunges, 40 sec wall sit, 50 mason twists, 60 sec planks, 50 mason twists, 40 sec wall sit, 30 lunges, 20 squats, 10 pushups.
*A tip to stay motivated in working out-- find a buddy who pushes you to do so! A friend wants to workout a lot this month so I told her we should be workout buddies to hold each other accountable. Here goes nothing!*

Outfit: fail. I am in workout clothes all day since I have been running around doing errands and cleaning my apartment.

Complaints: I hate the Army right now. Seriously. I am not even trying to not complain at the moment because I think my head would explode if I tried to keep it all in! I haven't really talked to Casey since I was there last; yes we have had some short conversations (like the 5 min phone call on Friday, or the few word text messages) but in reality we haven't talked about anything important. I have gone ahead with putting a room on hold for our honeymoon (which I think will be to St Lucia) and Case has no clue I've done this since oh, hey, we haven't talked! I also have been booking things left and right for our wedding with zero input from him. I know, I know, guys don't really help with the wedding stuff at all... but I am sure most normal brides have their groom at least be involved with the honeymoon and solely re-affirming the choices the bride has already made; but nope! Not this bride! I have seriously been planning this wedding all by myself (minus random input here and there from my mom or future mother in law)....and it's starting to get old. I want Casey to be involved in this. But because of the Army and the distance, he can't be. And that makes me sad. Ok, enough complaining....at least I have some one amazing and who loves me and I am so grateful for that, but the military really puts a strain on relationships.

I think that's about it for now...before I go, I'll leave you with some motivation found on pinterest...stay "sweating" and strong!

Back on track

Hey everyone! After failing miserably with my time management the other day, I am proud to say I am back on track! I managed to finish all of my work without pulling all-nighters! Now that school is a bit more under control, I have a bunch of stuff to get caught up on, like cleaning and organizing my apartment (my mom so graciously did all of my laundry for me when I went home, and I have yet to put it away, AH!) and also fun wedding decisions (like the DJ and table runners, and on and on). Anyways, last night I posted on my facebook status of how hard being in a military relationship is, and I had a bunch of friends with significant others in the services "like" it. Seriously, if you haven't ever experienced being apart and out of touch, it is truly difficult to maintain a functional relationship. I am so happy to have such an amazing man by my side to spend the rest of my life with, and lord knows I miss him like crazy when he is gone! But somehow, even when he is out busy playing Army, he manages to remind me how much he loves me, and for that I am truly grateful. So to all my sisters and brothers in arms, thanks for being amazing! Ok, so on to to other things... below ya can see my outfit for the day and the workout we did this morning at PT. Hope ya'll have a great day!

Feb 1st, 2012 (holy cow it's February already!)

Workout-- This morning we did a circuit workout comprising of 5 different stations for 6 minutes each.... it was pretty killer! We did pullups (dime drill consisting of 5 regular, 5 chin ups,10 with reverse grips, 5 feet to bars; then sets of 5 regular pullups and 20 leg lifts....I couldn't do all of those without some help or modification though), overhead arm claps, partner assisted military presses, partner resistance pushups, regular pushups, ran multiple flights of stairs, box jumps and dips, and then 6 minutes of abs (crunches, side crunches, situps, mason twists, flutter kicks, 6 inches). To finish up we did 1 minute of situps/pushups/mountain climbers as an entire company! I was smoked by the end!

Outfit-- I have a presentation for my class today and thought about wearing a dress, but decided I was much more comfortable in jeans. I got this shirt and hadn't wore it yet, so decided today was a good day to! I really like pairing black and brown together too, and this shirt has a slightly lacey look to it, so I thought boots would be a good touch. Paired with my MK watch, a pearl necklace, and white stud earrings :)

Wedding-- I am thinking about booking our honeymoon for St Lucia and staying at the Sandals resort....I really want to wait to see what Casey thinks, but I am afraid rooms might be booked if we wait till March, and luckily they have a fully refundable deposit up to 2 months before your trip, so I feel like its a good idea. But, who knows, maybe I will just wait and if its available then its a sign! I also plan on booking the DJ this week.

Distance-- SUCKS. which goes hand in hand with Complaints-- I have really been failing here. I should stop complaining about missing Case and instead remember how lucky I am to have someone to miss.

OK lovelies... that's all for today. Until next time,"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive, that is youer than YOU!" ~Dr. Seuss

PS: a friend posted this on Facebook and I wanted to share...military members can get free calls via google voice! Got to remember this when Casey deploys! Click here for all the info!

Time Management FAIL

Hey ya'll! So I'm still super swamped with school work, and I guess I am having a bit of a time management issue. I have 3 papers and a 30 minute project due by tomorrow and this is how my day went yesterday--

Wake up for PT at 5:45am, read before PT at 6:30am, workout till 7:30am (see workout below)
Breakfast out (woops, so much for not eating out as much) at Panera till 8:30am with Allison
Come home, shower, and play on facebook and pinterest till 9:30am
Research and write my paper for a good hour or so, then take an hour to two hour break with wedding stuff, oh and be sure to check facebook and pinterest!....Repeat for the next 6 hours! FAIL!

As you can tell.. I only finished one paper and got about 10% of my big paper done! BUT I did create and order my save the date cards, buy my plane ticket to see Case over spring break, and research wedding DJs! Hahaha. Next time I better work a bit more on managing my time better! Anyways, a quick summary of my workout yesterday, and today's hopeful workout plans is below. Have a fantastic day!

30 Jan 2012

Workout-- Run about 2.5-3 miles at a pretty slow pace (30ish mins) over minor baby hills; pushups/situps at the end of the run until we had to end PT...if you are just starting out with running, going slow is 100% OK as long as you DO NOT GIVE UP! As the Army says, just airborne shuffle at least (meaning, keep your legs moving at a slow jogging pace instead of walking).

31 Jan 2012

(proposed) Workout-- 50 jumping jacks, 5 pushups, 20 crunches, 20 mountain climbers, 30 second plank and 7 burpees; repeat 3 times. I figure this is all I really have time for today with all the school work I have to do! Anything is better than nothing though!

(Wish I had her body..and her boobs! From fuckyeahfitspo.tumblr.com )

Until next time...you will get out of life what you put into it! Give it all you have!

SWAMPED!

Hi! So I just got back to my apartment and I still have SO much to do for school, but I wanted to post a quick update. I got SO much wedding stuff done this weekend, and I am super excited for how it is all coming together! I also got a very nice surprise with ALL of our engagement photos coming back, and I have to say, I AM STUNNED! They are gorgeous and perfect and I don't know how I am going to pick my favorite(s) for Save the Dates! A quick preview our photographer put together can be seen here. And here are some of the photos I love (though I really love them all!). I think I may do one whole post sometime next week of the photos though :)

All credits for these photos goes to Zelo Photography-- check em out at zelophotoblog.com!

(A way to incorporate the military without SCREAMING it!)

Hope you enjoy them, and I will be posting as soon as I can :)

Until next time... "you have to be willing to get happy about nothing. -Andy Warhol." Stay smiling and beautiful!

School is getting very tiresome already!

Hello there lovelies!

I am already slacking with my whole idea of trying to post everyday, but school is getting the best of me right now! While we only just began in the beg of Jan, I already have a ton of stuff due! But, thankfully this is my last semester :) So this entry will be a quick one since I need to do some homework, and I probably wont post again till next week (I am going home to visit my family and get some wedding stuff done, yay!). Anyways, here's how my Wed and Thurs have played out:

Wed Jan 25
Workout-- None; we had PT in the morning except we had to grade the PT test so no workout, and then I had to do some homework before class, and class went till 8pm; after that I ate dinner and it was already time for bed! Gotta make up for this tomorrow..

Outfit-- This was actually a good outfit day for me! I wore a shirt I received from Case's mom for Christmas with jeans, a scarf, and a cute pair of boots... see below-- the back of the shirt was super fun :)

I actually got a ton of compliments on my boots, which was awesome since they were under $10 from Kmart! (I bought them a few years ago though). To top off the look I added some super cute earrings I got from Aldo the other day and my Michael Kors watch. All in all, I think I did a good job on this resolution for 2012 today!

Complaints-- Still upset about the Army stealing Case, but I think I did a better job about not complaining about it!

Thurs 26 Jan

 This got me going today!

Workout-- I went on a 2.4 mile run today on this little loop I mapped out that has some small baby hills thrown in! I'm really glad I did this because I had such a hard time getting motivated... But, once I got out there I thought I would only do about a mile or so since I was feeling so "blah" but after I finished each "lap" of the loop I kept telling myself, "no... no quitting! You will stop when you stop, not when you're tired! You can run more!" So that's what I did, and I actually ran it in a pretty fast time for myself so I'm pretty happy :)

This is how I felt today while running!

Uniform today so no cute outfit!

Wedding-- 177 days to go! I found out our engagement photos *should* be done by tomorrow evening, so I am looking forward to seeing those (and posting some here!) and then getting my "save the date" cards sent out! AH!

Not a whole lot to say about today...had class and got fitted for my dress blues (only 90ish days left till commissioning, yay!) and now relaxing and trying to get some work done for both school and the wedding. I'm so excited to go home and see momma and faja and to check out my wedding venue again since its been a while, but I'll need to make sure I stay on top of my resolutions! Hopefully when I blog again next week I'll have lots of good things to say :) Hope you all have a lovely weekend...

Remember that today is just another day to forget yesterday and become the YOU that you have always wanted to be!

Day 2: I wanted to quit already!

Tuesday Jan 24

I've made it through the day doing most of what I accomplished to do! I will admit though, part of me really wanted to sit on my couch watching TLC and eating french fries this afternoon, but then I saw this picture and decided to be strong:

So I got my lazy butt off the couch and did a short workout before I wrote a paper I have due tomorrow.

So my stats for the day...

Days until the wedding-- 179! I told myself today I would send off my deposit to the woman I thought may do my hair/makeup, but she has been sort-of unresponsive with emails so I am having second thoughts about using her (anyone in the Jacksonville, FL area have a good recommendation for this??). I also wanted to investigate which save the date cards I would use and narrow down my DJ choices, but I got frustrated with not having my engagement photos back yet to use with the card I chose, so alas that will have to wait for another day.

Workout-- 50/10 intervals (50 sec of work, 10 sec rest, continuously) of jumping jacks, crunches, dips, planks, pushups, and lunges. I did each of those exercises twice for a total workout length of 12 minutes...I like these circuit workouts, however I know my own personal weakness is running, so I really need to work on that too!

HITS-- I confess...there may be a hair somewhere in there today as I was in a rush to get to class this morning!

Outfit-- uniform, blah! I have all these cute new outfits I bought on Sunday though, so I will probably wear one tomorrow, stay tuned for pictures :)

Complaints/Distance-- I have to admit on this one too, I failed. I complained about how the Army is stealing my fiance. He is SO busy getting ready for the training he has in Yakima the next month, and because we have a 3-hr time difference he is getting off from work when I am falling asleep, so I haven't been able to really talk to him. I know it's not his fault, but it still sucks! And there I go complaining again.... LOL, I knew this resolution would take a lot of work

Now I've got to go and search for plane tickets out to Washington for spring break, but I am having bad luck with that since all of the prices seem ridiculously high! Cmon, $450 when booking OVER a month out where previously I  had managed to pay only $424 two days in advance over MLJ weekend!?

Anyways, that's a wrap for today. Until tomorrow...don't give up on your goals, live life like you always wanted, and remember the best accessory you own is a SMILE! :)
